Our summer housing facilities in
Costa Rica Housing Gallery
One of the primary benefits of the Dream Careers Intern Program in Costa Rica is the housing we provide to all of our participants with local Costa Rican families. An important objective for the Costa Rica program is to learn local culture firsthand from local families. The homestays we use are specifically selected for students based on the following criteria: quality of host families, comfort, nearness to major city attractions and to our host university, closeness to mass transit, quality of the surrounding neighborhood, and additional amenities made available by the University (Wifi, cafeteria, conference rooms, computer labs, etc.).
Our host university, the Universidad Veritas, is a private university known for their prominence in design and architecture. It is a state-of-the-art university equipped with the latest in computer labs and video equipment. The most renowned architects and designers in the country teach at the Veritas. While living near the university, you will have an opportunity to interact with local university students and other foreigners studying in Costa Rica.
Immerse Yourself in the Culture.
Costa Rican students, as in many Latin American cultures, live with their parents when they study at the university, so dorms are not available. If a Costa Rican student comes to the capital from an outlying community, they will live with a relative or with a friend of the family. So living in a family homestay is exactly what the Costa Ricans do as well! We believe that one of the principal aims of going abroad is to develop a greater knowledge and appreciation of the host culture, and there is no better way to do that than through a family homestay experience.
“The homestay experience while abroad is a must, in my opinion. Besides the Spanish, your eyes will be opened to a new culture, you can gain new perspectives on the world, and you can make some truly lifelong friends.”
- Costa Rica Participant in 2007
Most students will be sharing a home with Dream Careers participant, but each person will have their own room and a study area where they can work. Your family will go to great lengths to make your stay as pleasant as possible providing 2 meals a day (breakfast and dinner) and laundry services.
